I mean there are some things the other can do, but I'll just post their pros and cons.

Ness Pros and Cons

Pro:

Decent aerial metagame
PK fire can mutiple hit
PK thunder's speed is decent to benifit his recovory
PK thunder's impact deals a heavy amount of damage
Can absorb projectiles
Usmash can be used effectively
Can deflcet projectiles with his Ssmash
Dash attack can be used as a suprise attack, and it can't be read easily if the player knows what he is doing.
PK thunder's speed
D-tilt
Effective d-air

Cons:

100% chance of being meteor smashed if present whenever he uses PK thunder in mid-air
Some of his attacks has start up lag(For example, Ssmash).
PK Flash is too slow and can never be useful half the time he preforms it
PK fire can be easily counter'd if it's used up close.
PK Thunder is unrealiable in tight spaces
PSI magnet cannot absorb every projectile that comes its way

Ex: Ice climber's Icicle attack.

His yo-yo's are almost unrealiable in certain situations
His D-smash is almost to completely useless.

^These are just the ones at the top of my head^

Now for,

Lucas Pros and Cons

Pro:

Aerial preformance

Ex: DI + PK fire > D-special can be used to recover safely.
PK Fire can impact from both directions
PK Thunder's bulb does not die out, when it impacts into other objects.
PK Thunder's impact is a brief and light travel + he can pass through other opponents to avoid obvious metagames(Power shield + grab counters n' stuff)
Has bonus tether recovery
Long ranged grabs
Also, even quicker and more effective pivot grabs
Two meteor smashes
Strong D-smash + U-smash
In addition to his D-smash + multiple hits
His Ssmash is quick move
Can absorb projectiles
PSI magnet's quick jolt
Can deflect projectiles with his Ssmash

Con:

PK thunder is unrealiable in tight spaces
Note: Due his excellent turn, he can avoid this syuff around a 50% - 60% chance
But not all the time

PK thunder's speed affects his recovery
PK thunder's impact

Ex: It takes judgement to know when and how to use it correctly and properly.
One person could easily kill theirself off FD if it's used incorrectly.

He cannot absorb all projectiles
His aerials can be easily read, for they're not not solid.
Usmash is too slow and unrealiable + easy to read due to its start-up lag
His dash grab has too much ending lag, and can be punished easily
His tether recovery is not an attack(Meaning, it cannot be used as an attack in mid-air)

For example,

Samus's grab
Metoer smash(D-air) is not the best meteor smashing option in all situations
Same goes for his B-air
As a matter of fact, most(3/4's) of his aerials are unrealiable.
Tilts are pretty much useless with him, cept' his d-tilt though compared with Ness's it somewhat useless.

^I would have to do more testing to get back to you on this^

Though, they're attacks have the same base, they're way different in preformance.

In short summary, yes.

But remember that their series is the same, so not everything about their abilities will be different.
Kinda like a character with updates from his previous game, etc.

I never played paper mario before but just with experience of past alternate version of mario in a smash bros game the attacks may be similar not to mention how we just made 3D mario into 2D sprites it might look the same if we make a 2D mario into just sprites. I have no problem with all the others except the ovious clones i have no idea who saki is and i don't really think its too good of an idea to have so many pokemon trainers.

I thought his design was formed or at least inspired by Tatsuo, creator of Tasunoko or the Power Rangers.

But I never compared the similarities of Viewtiful Joe and Captain Falcon.
Well, just the looks portion. Their personalities are completely different. :/

He certainly would be an interesting character to fight.
*Playing TvsC

I mean, his Voomerang is a weird projectile to use; use it on the ground, and it will curve up.

Use in the air and it will curve downwards, spiking into the dirt.
Charge it, and it fly around in a loop of some sort.
And, he can combo like hell in mid air.

He can use his slow, mach speed, and zoom abilities to surpass his foes.


Viewtiful Joe was one of my gamecube faves right next to Tales of Symphonia and Billy hatcher.

Nice sprite. Only thing is figuring out the moveset due to him having no fighting games. I know he used bombs in mario kart double dash.

I got some movesets for waluigi the tennis racket like in ssbc and we can copy some movesets from ssbc.

I think there should be seperate forums on each character for they're development.

example: Waluigi character development

My first question would be which paper mario? Each game seems to depict him differently. Also I have played the first paper mario only and watched bits and peices from the others. If you go with the first one then he is definatly different to normal mario. Also he's clearly shown as paper in the game, not just simply a 2d version of Mario. When he turns around for instance he goes paper thin then widens out again rather then showing a front sprite.

Doesn't waluigi have a move where his foot gros bigger for a breif instant while kicking? Or did I imagine that?

What would be his super smash or whatever it's called when you break open a smash orb?
